Over Rs. 40 Million in Assets Seized from Drug Trafficker

Over Rs. 40 million worth of assets believed to have been acquired through drug trafficking have been confiscated under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, according to the Police Media Division.

The assets are linked to a woman from Nalagasdeniya, Hikkaduwa, who is currently in remand for the possession of heroin.

Police investigations have revealed that the suspect and her close associates had purchased houses, lands, and vehicles using proceeds from drug trafficking.

The seized properties include:

  • A two-storey house valued at Rs. 2.4 million in Suduwella, along with an adjacent 12.72-perch land
  • A 20-perch land in Kaluwella worth Rs. 4 million
  • A house and 5-perch land worth Rs. 1 million in the same area
  • A house and 10-perch land in Rathgama valued at Rs. 2 million
  • A house and 0.0373-hectare land in Kaluwella worth Rs. 2 million
  • A luxury motor vehicle worth Rs. 12 million
  • A three-wheeler valued at Rs. 1.6 million
