Parliament to Debate Removal of IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon on 5 August

Parliament is scheduled to debate the proposal to remove Inspector General of Police (IGP) T. M. W. Deshabandu Tennakoon from office on 5 August, under Section 17 of the Removal of Public Officers (Procedure) Act, No. 5 of 2002.

This was announced by the Communication Unit of Parliament.

The Committee of Inquiry appointed to inquire and report its findings on Deshabandu Tennakoon,suspended Inspector General of Police, in respect of acts of gross abuse of power has found him guilty of all allegations leveled against the IGP.
