The National People’s Power (NPP) government will not shield anyone who commits wrongdoing, regardless of the reason. We will not hesitate to act against misconduct at any level of government, no matter their status or how powerful they may be. All necessary measures will be taken at the appropriate time, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake declared today (13 December).

He made these remarks during a meeting with the heads of state-owned media institutions.

The President’s statement comes amid growing controversy surrounding allegations about the educational qualifications of Speaker Asoka Ranwala.

“”The NPP government will not shield anyone who does wrong. We will act against misconduct at any level, no matter their status or power,” he said.

President Dissanayake further emphasized that his government is unconditionally committed to earning and maintaining the trust of the people, who have been deceived for seven decades, and to making this country a better place.

“We have a comprehensive understanding of the meaning and significance of the historic mandate given to us and the NPP by the people of this country on two occasions,” the President stated.

The people of this country entrusted the NPP government with the mission of creating a standardized and stable nation. Our government will never allow that belief to be undermined, he added.
