The final verdict in the case concerning the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks is scheduled to be delivered today (22).
Police have decided to deploy special security at the Hulftsdorp court complex, with several special police teams assigned for the purpose.
The case was filed against 24 defendants on more than 23,270 charges, including conspiracy and aiding and abetting in connection with the attacks.
A total of 2,309 witnesses testified for the prosecution in the case filed by the Attorney General against Naufer Maulavi and 23 others.
The verdict is due to be delivered this morning at the Colombo High Court by a three-judge Trial-at-Bar comprising High Court Judges Navaratne Marasinghe, Ramanathan Kannan and Sujeewa Nissanka.
The hearing of evidence concluded on 24 August, when the bench announced that the final verdict would be delivered today.
