Kotte Municipal Councillor Harshani Sandaruwani was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday (17).
According to the CID, the arrest was made in connection with remarks allegedly amounting to contempt of court, made on 22 August when former President Ranil Wickremesinghe was arrested and produced before court.
The arrest followed investigations carried out by the CID’s Special Investigation Unit. Sandaruwani, aged 46, was granted bail after being produced to the court.
