Silk Road mastermind Ross William Ulbricht, who was found guilty of operating the black site where people anonymously used bitcoins to buy drugs, hacking tools and fake identification, lost his appeal of his conviction and sentence on yesterday.
Generally known as Dread Pirate Roberts, must serve a life sentence for running the multimillion-dollar online drug bazaar Silk Road. The court rejected arguments by defense lawyers that Ulbricht was deprived of his constitutional right to a fair trial and subjected to a "demonstrably unreasonable" punishment.
Thus, the ruling found no legal grounds for reversing Ulbricht's conviction or 2015 sentence for founding and operating the encrypted electronic bazaar: Silk Road.
