Missing Afghan Soldiers At Massachusetts Base

September 22, 2014

Three Afghan soldiers taking part in an annual military exercise in Massachusetts are reportedly missing.

US security at Joint Base Cape Cod, along with state authorities, are working to find the soldiers.

They were last seen at a shopping mall on Sunday and are not thought to be a danger to the public, US military officials said.

The week-long annual exercise involves 200 soldiers from six nations and is aimed at fostering better relations.

The soldiers were identified as Major Jan Mohammad Arash, Captain Mohammad Nasir Askarzada and Captain Noorullah Aminyar.

They were part of a team of 15 Afghan soldiers participating in the exercise, according to the Massachusetts National Guard spokesman, speaking to Reuters.
