Harry Potter actor Robbie Coltrane has been taken to hospital after complaining of severe flu-like symptoms onboard a flight to Florida.
The actor, best known for his role as Rubeus Hagrid in the film adaptation of J.K Rowling’s books, fell ill during a British Airways flight from London to Orlando and was rushed to a nearby hospital on his arrival.
Coltrane, 64, was on his way to a Harry Potter convention with co-star Michael Gambon, who played Dumbledore, according to the gossip website TMZ. Orlando is home to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park, which opened last year.
He will remain in hospital overnight for treatment.
Coltrane, real name Anthony Robert McMillan, has been working in film and television for over 30 years.
