The IGP has been instructed to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of SJB MP Jagath Vithana, Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Ananda Wijepala said.

The minister said the IGP has already taken certain steps in this regard and confirmed that appropriate actions are underway.

Wijepala emphasized that security is provided to all politicians regardless of party affiliation, stressing that there is no discrimination in extending protection to public representatives.

He also expressed deep regret over the killing of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman, noting that such incidents are a cause for serious concern.
