The Sri Lanka Police have requested the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) to take necessary action against the ABC Network, which includes Hiru TV and Hiru FM, for the alleged persistent broadcast of unverified and false news reports.

Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wootler, confirmed the move during an inquiry by News 19. He said that the TRC has been briefed on specific findings emerging from an investigation into the network’s broadcasting conduct.
