Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has said that Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya should not resign from her post.
Speaking to the media today, Rajapaksa claimed that the current Government has complicated its own work by attempting to intervene in every sector.
However, despite Mahinda Rajapaksa’s view that the Prime Minister should remain in office, Namal Rajapaksa stated that Amarasuriya should step down in light of what he described as the deterioration of the education sector.
Addressing the media, Namal Rajapaksa said the prevailing situation suggests that the Prime Minister appears constrained when making decisions within the Cabinet.
Meanwhile, Mahinda Rajapaksa said that although the Government may be making certain efforts, many of its actions have failed.
Responding to a question from journalists on whether there were any positive aspects to the Government’s performance, the former President said that while the Government does make an effort, most of its initiatives have been unsuccessful. He added that although there are some positive elements, the negative aspects outweigh them.
