Former United National Party (UNP) MP Navin Dissanayake has been appointed as the party’s new Deputy Chairman.

The appointment was made in line with the official party reorganisation for 2026 and under Clause 8.1.1(c) of the party constitution.

Dissanayake’s nomination was recommended by the UNP Working Committee and took effect from 3 January 2026.
