The Attorney General today (10) informed the Court of Appeal that a letter issued by the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) relating to a proposed tourism promotion project targeting the same-sex community has been withdrawn.

The disclosure was made when a writ petition seeking to invalidate the letter issued by the SLTDA Chairman was taken up for consideration.

Appearing on behalf of the Attorney General, counsel told court that a decision had been taken to retract the controversial letter.

Following this submission, the Court of Appeal ordered that the petition be taken up again for further consideration on 4 March.
