A meeting of opposition party leaders and Members of Parliament was held yesterday (3) at the Opposition Leader’s Office in Parliament to discuss the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and its potential impact on Sri Lanka.
The meeting was convened by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa at the Parliament complex in Parliament of Sri Lanka.
According to party sources, the discussion focused primarily on the safety and welfare of Sri Lankans employed in Middle Eastern countries amid escalating hostilities in the region. Attention was also drawn to the broader economic and social implications the conflict could pose for Sri Lanka in the coming weeks.
Participants deliberated on possible disruptions to labour migration, remittance flows, fuel supplies and trade, as well as contingency measures that may be required if the situation further deteriorates.
