Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya said that 800 women from the Nuwara Eliya District participated in the National People’s Power (NPP) Women’s Day commemoration.

She stated that following the victory at the Presidential Election, Anura Kumara Dissanayake had sincerely stood up for women’s rights in the district.

Amarasuriya also emphasised that the NPP continues to advocate for the rights of the Malaiyaha Tamil community without hesitation.

She further noted that the representation of Malaiyaha women in the NPP’s electoral victory was historic.
