Sajin Vass Gunawardena arrested by Bribery Commission

Former Parliamentarian Sajin Vass Gunawardena has been arrested by officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) over allegations of illegally accumulating assets worth Rs. 243.8 million.

Gunawardena was taken into custody when he appeared before the Bribery Commission this morning (9) to provide a statement in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged illicit assets.

He had arrived at the Commission earlier in the day to record a statement as part of the probe into the alleged accumulation of illegal wealth.

Further investigations are being carried out by the Bribery Commission.
