A multi-day fishing trawler transporting a stock of sacks suspected to contain narcotics and weapons was seized during a special operation carried out in the deep seas off Sri Lanka’s southern coast.

Navy Spokesman stated that the vessel is currently being escorted to shore for further investigations.

The Navy conducts continuous operations in the maritime areas surrounding the island to ensure national security. Further details regarding the seizure are expected to be released following preliminary investigations.
