Fuel will be issued under an odd–even number plate system from tomorrow (19) as authorities move to manage fuel distribution and reduce queues at filling stations.
Under the new arrangement, vehicles with number plates ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 will be eligible to obtain fuel on even dates, while vehicles with number plates ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 will be issued fuel on odd dates.
The measure has been introduced to regulate demand and ensure the smooth distribution of available fuel stocks amid increased pressure on supply.
Meanwhile, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) Managing Director stated that vehicle owners facing issues with the phone number previously used to register for the initial QR code will be allowed to obtain a new QR code using their current phone number from this afternoon (18).
