The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has made arrangements to provide electricity for Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations and related events taking place across the country this month, Minister Vijitha Herath announced.

Speaking at the weekly Cabinet media briefing held today (7 April), the Minister said that necessary measures have already been implemented to facilitate power supply for such events upon payment of the required fees.

He noted that event organisers will be able to obtain electricity from the CEB between 15 and 19 April by completing the relevant payments.

Herath highlighted the importance of efficient electricity usage during the festive period, while acknowledging the essential role of power supply for New Year festivals and musical shows.

He added that the CEB would extend the necessary support to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply for celebrations during the specified period.
