COPF to meet today over alleged $2.5 million Treasury fraud

The Parliamentary Committee on Public Finance (COPF) is scheduled to meet today (28) to discuss the alleged theft of US$ 2.5 million from the Treasury by an external party.

COPF Chair Harsha de Silva said the committee would decide during the meeting whether to summon the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance before the panel.

He made the remarks while addressing the media in Colombo.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister Chathuranga Abeysinghe said the Government would extend its full support to the investigations being conducted by the Committee on Public Finance into the incident.
