A group led by New People’s Front leader Sugeeshwara Bandara staged a protest outside the residence of Finance Ministry Secretary Harshana Suriyapperuma in Battaramulla this morning (28).

During the protest, another group identified as residents in the area also gathered and staged a counter protest, during which cow dung was thrown at Bandara.

Police intervened and prevented the rival group from reaching the location where the demonstrators were seated in front of the residence.

The protesters later dispersed from the area without further incident.
