Prime Minister and Minister of Education Harini Amarasuriya said that the new Grade 06 education reforms will be implemented from January 2027.

Addressing Parliament today (5), she said that all preparations for the reforms are currently underway.

Commenting on the revised learning modules, Amarasuriya noted that a committee appointed to review previously printed materials — which had been identified as containing issues — has completed its assessment, proposed amendments, and concluded discussions.

She said the revised modules are scheduled to be sent for printing this month.

The Prime Minister further stated that teacher training under the new reforms will commence in June, with funds already allocated for the process.

Briefing sessions for teachers, parents, and students on the reforms are expected to begin in July, she added.

Amarasuriya made these remarks in response to questions raised by Opposition MP Chamara Samapath Dassanayake.
