Former Minister Johnston Fernando claimed that there were serious suspicions surrounding the death of former SriLankan Airlines Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kapila Chandrasena and pledged that a “fair investigation” would be carried out under a future Government led by Namal Rajapaksa.
Accusing the Police Department and independent commissions of being fully politicised, Fernando said he had no confidence in justice being served under the current system.
He further alleged that there was “no doubt” that Chandrasena’s death was suspicious.
Fernando also claimed that an affidavit had revealed that the Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) had previously pressured Chandrasena to name former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
He said that a future administration under Namal Rajapaksa as President would conduct a proper investigation into the incident and ensure that those responsible were punished.
