A man identified by Police as the main suspect in a 2025 triple murder case was killed in a late-night attack on his home in the Mamadala area within the Ambalantota Police division.

Police said the incident took place at around 8.30 p.m. yesterday (11), when a group of individuals allegedly forced their way into the house and attacked the victim with sharp weapons.

According to Police, the attackers later fled the scene after the killing.

During the same incident, the victim’s father-in-law, who was also inside the house at the time, sustained serious injuries after being shot by the attackers. He is currently receiving treatment at the Hambantota District General Hospital.

Police confirmed that the deceased was the main suspect in a triple murder reported from the Mamadala area in 2025, in which three people were killed after a group stormed a house.

The victim, a father of three, had reportedly been remanded over the case and was released on bail on 31 March this year.

Police said information had been uncovered regarding three suspects believed to be connected to the killing, and one suspect was arrested last night.

Further investigations are being conducted by Ambalantota Police.
