The 17th anniversary of Sri Lanka’s war victory over the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) will be commemorated tomorrow (19) with the “National Victory Day Commemoration” in Battaramulla.
The Ranaviru Seva Authority said the event would be held near the War Heroes Memorial under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
Speaking at a media briefing held at the Department of Government Information, Ranaviru Seva Authority Chairman Brigadier S.B. Kohona (Retd.) said that, for the first time, relatives of war heroes who sacrificed their lives in the Northern and Eastern Provinces would also participate in this year’s commemoration ceremony.
