Police say they have arrested the suspects linked to the robbery of a taxi driver in an incident that widely circulated on social media.
Two suspects were arrested by a team of officers attached to the Borella Police in the Gothami Pura area over the robbery of Rs. 38,500 from a hired vehicle driver after allegedly threatening him within the Welikada Police Division recently.
The suspects, both aged 24, are residents of Gothami Road, Borella.
Police said that at the time of arrest, officers recovered 10.600 grams and 12.360 grams of ‘Ice’ narcotics from their possession.
Investigations have further revealed that the suspects are allegedly involved in several similar crimes, based on information uncovered during questioning.
Police also stated that one of the suspects had previously been arrested by the Borella Police in connection with the theft of Rs. 5,500 and a mobile phone and had been produced before court.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Borella and Welikada Police.
