The Supreme Court today ruled that the three-judge High Court trial-at-bar had erred in acquitting former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake, former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran and several others without a trial in the bond scam case filed under the Public Property Act.
Accordingly, the Supreme Court held that the case against the accused, including Perpetual Treasuries Ltd., can be maintained under the Public Property Act and ordered that the matter be heard expeditiously.
