Owner of Horana Elders’ Home Granted Bail Over Deadly Fire

The owner of the Batagoda elders’ home in Horana, who was arrested in connection with the fire that broke out at the facility, was today (11) released on bail by the Horana Magistrate’s Court.

The court ordered his release on a cash bail of Rs. 100,000 and two surety bails of Rs. 1 million each.

The suspect was not produced before court, but was represented by his lawyers, who made submissions on his behalf.

Following the submissions, the Magistrate ordered that he be released under the stipulated bail conditions.

The court also imposed an overseas travel ban on the suspect.

The case is scheduled to be taken up again on June 25.
