A 56-year-old school principal from Koslanda, Bandarawela, who was arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing a 10-year-old schoolgirl, has been remanded until July 10 by Bandarawela Magistrate Gemunu Chandrasekara.
Police said the suspect, a father of two, had been conducting after-school classes for students preparing for the Grade Five Scholarship Examination, and the alleged victim was among those attending the sessions.
The arrest was made following an investigation into a complaint lodged by the girl’s parents. The investigation was conducted by Koslanda Police OIC O.C. Subasinghe, who produced the suspect before court.
