A Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to investigate coal procurement transactions in Sri Lanka began recording evidence today (1).
The deadline granted to complainants to submit detailed reports on 28 complaints received by the Commission expired yesterday (30).
The Commission has already recorded statements from more than 100 individuals, including several former ministry secretaries and other state officials.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake appointed the full-fledged Presidential Commission to investigate all coal procurement transactions in the country. The Commission is chaired by Supreme Court Justice Gihan Kulatunga.
