Compensation for 17 Patients Affected by Substandard Cataract Surgery Drugs

Cabinet approval has been granted to compensate 17 patients who suffered complications following cataract surgeries at the Nuwara Eliya District Hospital, Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa announced today (7 December).

Speaking in Parliament, the Minister revealed that a committee appointed to investigate the incident, caused by the use of a substandard medicine, has submitted its report. He further stated that legal action would be taken against those responsible for importing the faulty drug.
