A report by the National Audit Office reveals that SriLankan Airlines delayed 548 flights between 3 and 59 hours over the 17 months from 1 April 2022 to 30 September 2023.

The report highlights that the airline incurred a total cost of US$ 784,000 due to flight delays and cancellations during the 2022/2023 financial year. Key reasons for these delays included difficulties in securing replacement aircraft, unserviceable neo engines grounded for extended periods, delays in acquiring aircraft spare parts, and challenges stemming from the airline’s cash flow situation.

In response, the airline’s management stated that several continuous measures have been implemented to address these issues.

This information is part of the audit report for SriLankan Airlines’ 2023/2024 financial year.
