Five MoUs covering a wide range of areas including health, traditional medicine and maritime security were signed and renewed during Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Delhi.
The MoU on health cooperation was signed between the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Indonesian Ministry of Health.
The MoU on maritime safety and security cooperation between the Indian Coast Guard and the Indonesian Navy was renewed.
Another MoU was signed between the Indian Medical and Homeopathic Safety Commission under the Ministry of AYUSH and the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority in the field of quality assurance of traditional medicine.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology also signed a MoU with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs of Indonesia on cooperation in the areas of digital development.
A cultural exchange programme was also signed between the Indonesian Central Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Culture for the period 2025-28, the statement said.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is on his first state visit to India. He will attend the 76th Republic Day celebrations at Kartwya Path as the chief guest today.
The 190-member Indonesian Military Academy (AKMIL) Band, which embodies discipline and military tradition, will also perform at the 76th Republic Day celebrations.
This unique blend of military music and noble values reflects the spirit and dignity of the academy.
Earlier on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at Hyderabad House in Delhi.
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, focusing on areas such as defense, security, maritime affairs, economic ties and people-to-people contacts.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership and commitment to eradicating poverty and helping the marginalized, and affirmed that he had learned a lot from him in the past few days.
The Indonesian President, who is on his first state visit to India, said he was proud to be in India and wished the Indian people “prosperity, peace and greatness” in the years to come.
Speaking at the special banquet, Mr. Subianto said, “I am very proud to be here (in India) I am not a professional politician, I am not a good diplomat, I speak what is in my heart. I have been here for a few days, but I have learned a lot from Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and commitment. His commitment to eradicating poverty, helping the marginalized and helping the weakest section of your society is an inspiration to us.”
“I would like to wish the people of India prosperity, peace and greatness in the years to come. I would like to see Indonesia and India continue to be close partners and friends,” he added.
Subianto will attend the 76th Republic Day celebrations at Kartwya Path in the national capital on Sunday.
In a statement, Rashtrapati Bhavan said Murmu recalled that 75 years ago, the then Indonesian President Sukarno attended India’s Republic Day as the chief guest.
President Prabowo was received by President Draupadi Murmu at a special banquet at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday.
President Murmu thanked President Subianto for accepting the invitation to attend India’s Republic Day celebrations as the chief guest. She recalled that 75 years ago, in 1950, Indonesian President Sukarno attended our first Republic Day as the chief guest. This is a reflection of the long-standing relations and strong democratic traditions between India and Indonesia.
