South Asian manufacturer MAS Holdings is expanding its regional footprint by opening its first manufacturing facility in the Indian state of Odisha, aiming to capitalize on the neighboring giant’s fast-growing retail market.
The new factory will strengthen MAS’s supply chain in India, enhance its manufacturing footprint and enhance its regional manufacturing capabilities, the company said in a statement.
The company plans to start production at the facility in 2026, the company said.
The factory will focus on creating value-added products suitable for both the Indian and international markets.
The move will not only tap the potential of India’s manufacturing landscape, but will also build on MAS’ long-established excellence in Sri Lanka, MAS Holdings said.
Once established, these operations are set to provide new benefits to the broader MAS group, which has a majority workforce in Sri Lanka, and provide the company with access to markets and strong regional partnerships, growth and new business opportunities.
“MAS is pleased to take this important step to create a robust ecosystem in the region. This is enabled by our extensive experience in managing the entire industrial zones in Sri Lanka, across the manufacturing supply chain,” said Malik Ahmadine, CEO, MAS India.
Echoing a similar sentiment, Suren Fernando, Group CEO, MAS Holdings, said that India has long been an integral part of its operations.
“With 25 years of experience operating in India, we recognize the immense potential of the country’s manufacturing landscape for both the global supply chain and the rapidly growing local retail sector,” he said.
Over the next 10 years, MAS Holdings plans to develop the 60-acre site with its partners to build a fully-fledged university center in Odisha.
