The Government will table the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) report on Batalanda in Parliament today (14 March).

The Cabinet has decided to present the Batalanda Commission report in Parliament, Cabinet Spokesperson Nalinda Jayatissa announced during the weekly press briefing on Tuesday (11 March).

Responding to journalists’ questions, Jayatissa stated, “We will take measures regarding all accusations, but there is a special focus on the Batalanda Commission report.” When asked about human rights violations in northern and southern Sri Lanka, he added, “The President has also given this special attention.”

“We will not just table the report; we will present it with relevant details. We will also announce our stance regarding the report,” the minister said.

“The first step will be tabling it in Parliament. Then, we will consider the next course of action based on parliamentary discussions. Further steps will be taken with the support and advice of relevant authorities, such as the Attorney General’s Department.”
