Siri Dalada Vandanana, special exposition of the tooth relic of Buddha, commenced today (25 April) for the eighth consecutive day at 11.00 a.m. at the sacred Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy.

According to Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela, the exposition of the tooth relic will conclude on 27 April as scheduled, and this decision will not be subject to change under any circumstances.

In the meantime, the special train service that had been operating between Colombo Fort and Kandy for the convenience of devotees attending the event has been suspended from 24 April until further notice. The decision was announced by the Railway Department.

Three special trains had been deployed daily for this purpose. A senior railway official explained that the suspension was prompted by the challenges in managing the large crowds of devotees travelling by train and the resulting strain on regular train services.
