The Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court has issued an order prohibiting four individuals from entering or remaining near centers where competitive exams are scheduled today (April 27) to recruit graduates into supplementary health service courses.

The court order was issued following a request from the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Maradana Police Station, after receiving intelligence about a planned protest aimed at discouraging candidates from sitting the exams.

The court order names M.N.M. Nustri, co-convener of the Allied Health Science Graduates’ Union; Nandun Dasharika Hewapathirana, secretary of the union; Madushan Chandrajith, convener of the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF); and Ravi Kumudesh, Chairman of the Joint Council of Supplementary Medical Professionals.

From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, any form of entry, protest, or demonstration that blocks pedestrian pathways along Deans Road, De Saram Road, Kinsey Road, Regent Street, or disturbs activities at the Colombo hospital square, is prohibited. The order also bans gatherings near the School Of Nursing Colombo and the Post Basic College of Nursing — two key exam centers.

The competitive examination, conducted by the Examinations Division of the Ministry of Health, is scheduled to take place at four centers starting at 10 a.m. today:

  • School Of Nursing Colombo
  • Post Basic College of Nursing
  • College of Nursing, Kandana
  • Castle Street Hospital for Women

Admission cards for candidates have already been sent by mail.
The examination aims to recruit graduates for roles including Medical Laboratory Technologists, Radiographers, and Physiotherapists.
