A massive protest took place opposite the Ramanathan Hindu Ladies College in Bambalapitiya in response to the recent suicide of a 16-year-old schoolgirl in Kotahena.

Protestors demanded the immediate suspension and arrest of a male teacher accused of sexually abusing the student, which they claimed led to her death.

They also voiced strong criticism of the school principal, accusing her of protecting the alleged perpetrator.
