Husband Arrested for Strangling Pregnant Wife to Death

A man has been arrested for allegedly strangling his nine-month pregnant wife to death following a dispute over money, the Deniyaya Police said.

The suspect is a 28-year-old resident of Enasalwatta in Deniyaya.

According to police, both the husband and wife were employed as labourers.

Investigations have revealed that an argument had broken out between the couple on the day of the incident due to a financial dispute. During the altercation, the suspect is said to have strangled his wife using a piece of cloth.

The victim has been identified as a 24-year-old woman from Enasal Watta in Deniyaya.
