ACCA Sri Lanka held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 5 June at the Sapphire Ballroom, Courtyard by Marriott, Colombo, bringing together members to celebrate the many milestones achieved over the past year.

A key highlight of the AGM was the reaffirmation of Chaaminda Kumarasiri, Group Managing Director of The Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC, as chairman for another term, with Prasenna Balachandran, Vice President, Risk and Governance of INQUBE GLOBAL, continuing as vice chairman.

The Member Network Panel includes appointed members Ranjani Joseph (Partner, Head of Banking and Head of Clients & Markets, KPMG Sri Lanka), Moiz Rehmanjee (Group Chief Financial Officer, Hemas Holdings), Mahesh Semage (Head of Group Corporate Finance, CBL Group), and Buddhi Pathiraja (Director, BDO Partners), alongside elected members Sashi Jayakody (Finance Director, Hayleys Aventura), Lahiru Karunarathna (Director Finance, InnovateXLabs), Nadishanie Jayalath (Team Lead, BPO Operations, Hayleys Aventura), and Dhananjaya Dayananda (Chief Internal Auditor, SANASA Development Bank PLC).

ACCA’s strategy — structured around four key outcomes: redefining the role of the accountant, driving career success, strengthening professional impact, and building sustainable value — underscores its role as a leading global voice shaping the future of finance and accounting.

The 2024/25 annual review presented numerous initiatives, including the inaugural Tutors’ Recognition Ceremony, the first-ever Teachers’ Conference, and the launch of an AI-powered chatbot — reflecting ACCA’s forward-thinking approach. These initiatives aim to foster strong relationships with professional bodies and universities, developing a future-ready talent pool of employable graduates in line with global workforce needs.

Additionally, new Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were forged with universities, professional bodies, and employers, while Approved Employer Certificates were presented to leading organisations in recognition of their continued support.

Other key achievements include ACCA’s National Agenda Sub-Committee’s ambitious 2025 budget proposal, which focuses on sustainability, public welfare, and fiscal responsibility — alongside the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the ACCA Sri Lanka Sustainability Reporting Awards, reflecting growing corporate commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

With strong leadership in place and a clear, ambitious agenda for the future, ACCA is poised to empower its growing community of finance professionals in the years ahead.
