Two members of the National People’s Power (NPP) were reportedly abducted today (27) while en route to cast their votes in the election to choose the Chairperson of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha.

Accordingly, the incident led to a disruption of the scheduled council session.

A proposal was subsequently made to proceed with the session only after the safe return of the two missing members.
