Police Warn: Don’t Fall for Emails Claiming to Be from IGP

Police Warn: Don’t Fall for Emails Claiming to Be from IGP

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has warned the public about a fake PDF document being circulated via email and WhatsApp, falsely bearing the name of the Acting Inspector General of Police.

According to the CID, the fraudulent messages have been sent from the following email addresses:

  • judicial.gov-srilanka@execs.com
  • polcermp@gmail.com
  • andrep.atricia885@gmail.com
  • ecowastaxs@gmail.com
  • ccybermp@gmail.com
  • vinicarvalh08@hotmail.com

The police have clarified that these emails were not sent by the Sri Lanka Police or the Acting IGP, and urged the public not to be alarmed or misled by such messages.

The CID further stated that investigations into the source and spread of these fake emails are currently underway.
