The spot fine payment system via GovPay was officially launched today (28 July) in the Western Province and on expressways.

Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation, Bimal Rathnayake, made the announcement at a media briefing, stating that relevant officers have been trained to ensure the system’s smooth rollout.

As part of the initiative, 1,000 traffic police officers are being equipped with mobile phones today to facilitate on-the-spot fine payments.

Rathnayake also commended the Ministry of Digital Affairs for its key role in the rapid implementation of the new system.
