Eighteen-year-old Yevan David has made history by becoming the first Sri Lankan driver to compete in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, signing with AIX Racing for the 2026 season — a landmark moment in the country’s motorsport journey.

Currently battling for the Euroformula title, David has already recorded four victories, five other podium finishes and a pole position this season with the dominant Motopark team. His F3-level career began with an impressive debut in the final round of 2024, where he claimed two wins and a third place.

Before stepping up to Formula 3, David competed in Eurocup-3, Spanish F4 and UAE F4 Championships in 2024, his first full season in single-seaters after moving on from karting. Reflecting on his signing with AIX, he expressed pride in representing Sri Lanka on the global stage.

“Very thankful to have this opportunity to be racing as the first Sri Lankan driver in Formula 3, and with AIX Racing. They’ve proved themselves and I’m excited to achieve great milestones with them for the season ahead,” he said.

David’s karting career includes finishing fourth in the 2020 IAME Asia Cup for X30 Junior karts, sixth in the 2021 FIA Karting Academy Trophy, winning a silver medal in the Motorsport Games’ Karting Sprint Senior competition, and securing eighth in the 2023 WSK Champions Cup before placing 19th in the FIA World Cup for KZ2 shifter karts.

He is AIX Racing’s first confirmed FIA F3 signing for 2026, with the team also naming Eurocup-3 racer Emmo Fittipaldi in its Formula 2 line-up for next year.
