Waters Edge has unveiled its latest publication, Whispers of Waters Edge: A Story of Nature, Heritage, and Sustainability at the Heart of Kotte, on 27 July at the Waters Edge Hotel. The launch coincided with the Kingdom of Kotte International Tourism Launch, an event positioning Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte as a global model for sustainable tourism.
During the ceremony, the book was presented to Prime Minister Harini Amarasooriya, highlighting its national significance. Copies were also officially handed over to Urban Development Authority Chairman L.B. Kumudu Lal, as well as Waters Edge leadership — Chairman Chathura Krishantha Perera, General Manager Iyantha Abeysinghe, and Chakrapani Piyasena.
The publication pays tribute to the harmony between history, culture, nature, and sustainable hospitality. It explores the grandeur of the ancient Kingdom of Kotte, its cultural traditions, and the ecological value of the Ramsar-designated wetlands surrounding Waters Edge. Through immersive storytelling, photography, and research, it also showcases the property’s pioneering role in promoting environmentally conscious and culturally respectful tourism in Sri Lanka.
Led by Compliance and Sustainability Manager Ishanda Senevirathna as the lead author, the book was co-authored by Chathumi Yasara, Sachini Maheepala, and Dhanushka Nawarathne from the same department.
Waters Edge describes Whispers of Waters Edge as more than just a publication — a testament to Kotte’s transformation into a destination where the past meets the present, and sustainability shapes the future.
