The fatal bus accident near the 24th kilometre post on the Ella–Wellawaya main road on 4 September was caused by the driver’s negligence, according to Deputy Inspector General of Police for Motor Traffic, Indika Hapugoda.

Addressing a media briefing this afternoon (08), DIG Hapugoda stated that the 25-year-old driver had lost control of the bus, which then veered off the road and plunged about 350 metres down a precipice, resulting in the tragic accident.
