Electricity Board employees have launched a sick note campaign today (17) and tomorrow in protest against the restructuring of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).
This marks the second phase of their ongoing work-to-rule campaign. In addition, a protest demonstration is scheduled to be held today in front of the CEB headquarters.
Trade unions stated that they have not yet received a favourable response from the government regarding their demands.
They further noted that services such as breakdown repairs and bill payments will only be carried out during official duty hours as part of the trade union action.
According to the Joint Federation of Electricity Trade Unions, engineers, technical officers, and other staff will report sick leave in two separate groups over the next two days.
