Asia Asset Finance PLC (AAF), one of Sri Lanka’s fastest-growing and most trusted non-banking financial institutions, celebrated its 55th anniversary in style with back-to-back events in Killinochchi on 5th September and Jaffna on 6th September 2025. Each ceremony brought together more than 500 distinguished guests, including loyal customers, community leaders, and stakeholders, highlighting the trust and goodwill built over decades.
The celebrations also marked 15 years of AAF’s presence in the Northern Region, a market central to the company’s mission of financial inclusion. With 24 branches in the North, AAF continues to expand financial services to rural communities while promoting women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship.
Founded in 1970, AAF has grown from modest beginnings into a network of 107 branches islandwide. This growth is strengthened by its affiliation with Muthoot Finance, the world’s largest gold loan company and a global financial powerhouse. The partnership provides international expertise and financial strength, while AAF remains deeply rooted in local communities.
The anniversary coincided with two major branch openings: Murunkan on 5th September and Palali on 6th September, pushing the company’s total footprint to 107 branches. These openings underscore AAF’s commitment to making financial services more accessible across both urban and rural Sri Lanka.
Adding to the festivities, AAF hosted a lively Riyapola campaign in Nallur, bringing together three-wheeler and motorbike sellers, individual vendors, and buyers. This initiative showcased the company’s ability to combine cultural celebration with financial opportunity, strengthening its grassroots presence.
Today, AAF offers a diverse portfolio including gold loans, leasing, mortgage loans, fixed deposits, forex, and money exchange services. The company has also advanced into digital finance with its LuckEwallet app, giving customers the convenience of secure, mobile-based transactions. With an A+ Fitch Rating, 55 years of legacy, and the global strength of Muthoot Finance, AAF has demonstrated resilience, innovation, and accessibility in Sri Lanka’s financial services sector.
Reflecting on the milestone, CEO Rajiv Gunawardana said:
“Celebrating 55 years is not just about looking back at our achievements but reaffirming our vision for the future. The Northern Region has been vital to our journey, and we are proud to celebrate 15 years of service here. With 24 branches in the North, we remain committed to driving financial inclusion, empowering women, and uplifting rural communities. The new branches in Palali and Murunkan are clear reflections of our mission to bring financial solutions closer to those who need them most.” The celebrations not only honored AAF’s legacy but also set the stage for its future. Combining local presence with global expertise, Asia Asset Finance remains committed to empowering people, transforming lives, and ensuring financial inclusion for every Sri Lankan.
