Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa today (17) laughed off a light-hearted question from a journalist, saying he never loved Sewwandi and that the only person he has ever loved is his wife, Limini.

Speaking to the media after a meeting at the SLPP Headquarters, a journalist jokingly referred to a popular song lyric, “Sewwandiyakata pem banda…”, and asked, “Did you also fall in love with a Sewwandi?”

Smiling, Rajapaksa replied, “I didn’t love Sewwandi. The only person I have loved is Limini, and we have two children together. I’ve left the past behind — I say goodbye to the things I did back in the day.”

Turning to more serious matters, Rajapaksa also commented on issues related to the underworld.

“The police must investigate those connected to the underworld — that is their responsibility. But they must also look into those who have fled the country,” he said.

“The State Minister in charge of the police recently said a group had left the country using ten forged passports. He also claimed that a certain secretary had helped prepare those passports. So, who is this secretary? Who gave the State Minister this information? If he has such details, he must immediately reveal them to the public,” Rajapaksa added.

He questioned whether some underworld figures were among those who had escaped the country, “just like the 323 containers that went missing.”

“This government is only interested in attacking the Rajapaksas to hide its own failures. But soon, the people will see who is really filling their pockets under this administration. Some in the government have even reached a point where they refuse to obey court orders. That alone shows what kind of ‘system change’ we’ve truly had,” Rajapaksa said.
