Sri Lankan passport holders can now enjoy faster and more secure processing at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) with the introduction of the new e-Gates facility.

Deputy Minister of Transport Prasanna Gunasena announced that the automated gates have been launched exclusively for Sri Lankan passport holders, enabling a smoother and more efficient airport experience.

According to the Department of Immigration and Emigration Officers’ Association, eligible passengers can use the e-Gates by following three simple steps:

  1. One-time registration
  2. Providing required biometrics
  3. Starting your smart travel through the e-Gates

The new system aims to modernise passenger clearance procedures at BIA while enhancing both speed and security.

The Deputy Minister has quoted the Immigration and Emigration Officers’ Association.
